Sh2-240 – the Spaghetti nebula on HOO + RGB stars

About the Object

Sh2-240 a.k.a. Simeis 147, or the  Spaghetti nebula, is a quite faint supernova remnant - and a quite extended one almost filling a full frame sensor at 280mm focal length (or some 3 degree on the night sky) making it even larger in angle than M31. But owing to its faint emission is also a very challenging object in particular at Bortle 5-6 suburban skies. This ~10h exposure is probably the absolute minimum one needs, and most decent images on astrobin have exposure times  of the order of some 30h+ and more. Owing to it's size a nigger scope is also not of much help ... though thinking of the 3° field of view of the 8.4m Rubin telescope that is currently being commissioned in Chile one gets ideas ...
