NGC6116 and friends – a chain of galaxies at z=0.03
About the Object
The so-called poor group WBL 612 or Zwicky 1615.8+3505 is rarely targeted on astrobin. It is a nice chain-like arrangement of 8 NGC galaxies, all at a distance of some 400 MLy, or z=0.03, and many smaller ones. The individual NGC galaxies are of interesting morphology featuring large spiral features, bars and rings. In the monochrome inverted image, it becomes apparent that many of these galaxies have some faint irregular stuff around them.
