NGC5945 and friends
About the Object
NGC5945 is a barred spiral galaxy that shows quite a bit of internal structure and also features an active galactic nucleus. It is also pretty perturbed owing to its interactions with the S0 galaxy NGC5943. Both galaxies are at a distance of ~250 MLy, so not easy to capture. NGC 5947 (at 10h) and another edge-on galaxy (UGC9873 at 7h) give this ensemble a quite pleasing setting and appearance, I think.
Observation Notes
Well, nights are getting pretty short in northern Europe, so one object per (4-5h) night is all one can expect. The data is still noisy, probably worth coming back to these apparently only rarely targeted fellows on a future occasion.
Data were taken on 2023 May 12 and 13.
