NGC4217 – out of the shadow
About the Object
NGC 4217 is an edge-on spiral galaxy at a distance of some 60 million light-years in the constellation Canes Venatici. Usually it is imaged together with the nearby and more prominent galaxy M106, thus take on a minor role, undeservingly so, I think, as the setting with few colorful bright star is quite appealing on its own right.
