Introducing NGC 6246, NGC 6246A and friends – an astrobin debut

About the Object

At the time of this writing, no image that show NGC 6246 and 6246A at some resolution were on astrobin, just a few very wide field shots and a very short exposure where one sees this pair of galaxy just as a litte fuzzy spot - so I claim astrobin debut for this beautiful couple of galaxies - because for its small size they feature a surprisingly complex structure which make it a really interesting target.

Observation Notes

taking the data and processing was not easy: nights are very short at 52N, weather has been very unstable this year - no real clear night, just shortish episodes interrupted by clouds moving through. And lots of satellite trails ("thank you" Elon).

The final image is a zoom in so NGC 6246 (right) and 6246 A (left) exhibit some structure, but Revision B shows the wider field environ.

Data were taken on 2024 June 26, July 4, July 5, July 7 and July 9
