Arp 65 and friends

About the Object

Arp 65 is an interacting pair of galaxies located about 300 million light-years away in the constellation Andromeda. The system is dominated by NGC 90 and NGC 93, whose mutual gravitational encounter has significantly disturbed their structures. NGC 90 shows distorted spiral arms, enhanced star-forming regions, and extended tidal material pulled outward during the interaction, while NGC 93 retains a more compact appearance. The surrounding field is populated by numerous more distant galaxies, adding considerable depth to the scene.
