Cosmic contrasts – the bubble NGC7635 and the open star cluster M52

Observation Notes

At times, the cosmos gives us unusual perspectives, and one of my favorite perspectives is the chance alignment of near and far objects. In other cases one gets objects of quite different kind, like here the combination of a bubble blown by the O Star SAO 20575 - i.e. a young cosmic object some 8000 lyr away, and the open star cluster M52,  some 4000 lyr away. Both objects also ask for different observing techniques, LRGB imaging for M52 and narrow band imaging for NGC 7635. With the HOO color palette both can be nicely put in one image, and with @Adam Block's recently proposed gilding technique, SII can be added to emphasize some of the structure in the emission nebula.

Data were taken on 2024 August 29,30, 31 and September 3, 17,18, and 19, respectively.
