Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks with M31 and M33
Observation Notes
Business travel took be to the Teide Observatory on Tenerife, and thus the opportunity for late and final attempt to capture 12P/Pons-Brooks in the twilight. Conditions were far from ideal - shooting very low on a not particularly clean horizon, 50% Moon, very windy and some Sahara sand in the atmosphere, but the comet was in great company with M31 and M33 - what a sight! Certainly not the technically most advanced processing - there is a limit what one can do with noisy data digging in the horizon fog, but the setting is rather unique, I think.
data were taken on 2024 March 16.
