NGC 2964/2968/2970 – the other Leo triplet or the forgotten Arp
Observation Notes
The galaxy triplet KTG25, the "other Leo triplet" at a distance of about 60Mlyr is a quite interesting setting, combining 3 galaxy types, the dwarf elliptical NGC2970, the SB0 galaxy NGC2968 and the barred spiral NGC2964. Furthermore there are some nice tidal features which make one wonder, why this nice group did not make it in Chip Arp's famous catalogue. NGC2964 has quite a bit of star formation activity, which makes is a good target for additional Halpha exposures. Also it seems not particularly popular amongst astrophotographers judging on the number of images on astrobin.
