NGC6951 behind IFN
Alternative designations
NGC 6951, NGC 6952
About the Object
NGC6951 is a barred spiral with an active nucleus in the constellation Cepheus at a distance of about 23Mpc. It was discovered twice by independent observers, so has two NGC numbers, NGC6951 and NGC6952.What makes NGC6951 (or do you prefer NGC6952?) an interesting astrophotography target is that it is not only a beautiful face-on barred disk, but that it is in an area of sky with considerable IFN, so you see NGC6951 (which in itself has quite a bit of dust) through the haze of the Milky Way.
Observation Notes
Data were taken on August 23 and August 24
