Orion Widefield over Paranal
Observation Notes
Another trip to the ESO facilities on Paranal. These time the conditions were less ideal, relatively high humidity owing to the altoplanatic winter and only a few days after full moon. So I only had a good hour for this wide field shot of Orion, who watches you from high up in the sky. I rotated the image to a more familiar orientation for northerners … the bright spot in the upper left is Jupiter.
